I'm tee-total now, but like a lot of people my age (58), I drank wine every day for years and years. Knowing in the back of my mind of the potential danger to my liver, I took a daily milk thistle supplement with a high silymarin content. I had no idea whether it was of any benefit for sure, but made me feel a bit more responsible about my drinking I suppose! Anyway, when I did have a liver scan at hospital my reading was well within the ‘normal’ range. It’s not an excuse to drink excessively of course, but if you do over-indulge often or occasionally, I can’t recommend a milk-thistle supplement enough.
